Man stabbed in the stomach with chisel during Queensland street fight

A man has been stabbed in the stomach and arm with a chisel during a fight on a Townsville street.

Police alleged one man produced the tool and stabbed another man after they got into an argument at South Townsville just after 9.30pm on Monday.

They said the 35-year-old alleged attacker fled, but he was caught quickly and charged with wounding and possession of a knife, while his alleged victim, 32, is recovering in hospital.

The suspect would front Townsville Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
