CHIPPEWA TWP. — A former Pennsylvania State Police lieutenant was hired last month for the position of assistant chief with the Chippewa Township Police Department.

According to Mark Taylor, Chippewa Township manager, Eric Hermick was hired May 9 for the newly created position of assistant chief.

Taylor said Hermick was hired at an annual salary of $70,000. His first day was May 14.

Officials with the state police confirmed Hermick retired from his role as lieutenant in April.
