An autorickshaw driver and his associate have been arrested for allegedly abducting and raping a minor girl in Khajuripada police station area of Kandhamal district on Monday.
According to the police, the victim had boarded the autorickshaw on Sunday evening to return home after shopping at Khajuripada weekly haat. The accused ensured that the girl was the last person left in the autorickshaw after all other passengers got down, the police said.
The duo allegedly dragged the victim to a nearby jungle and raped her. After committing the crime, they left her there and fled. The victim then returned home and informed her parents about the incident. She and her father reached the Khajuripada police station and lodged an FIR against the two accused identified by the victim. The police managed to arrest the two within a few hours.
