Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has ruled out the demand from certain organisations and political parties to extend Rythu Bandhu investment support scheme to tenant farmers too.
Addressing the awareness meeting on Rythu Bandhu Life Insurance Scheme here on Monday, Mr. Rao said some leaders do not know how to face the TRS and hence come up with such demands.
“On what basis investment support should be given to tenant farmers. If the tenant farmers change every year, should it be government work to update the records every year. Is it the only work for the government ?” he questioned drawing applause from the gathering.
The government thus chose to give the investment support only in the name of the pattadar. This will not create any problems or litigation for the agricultural land owner later on. “I have no intention of giving right to others on the land owned by the farmers,” he said.
Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao said it is between the farmer and his tenant on how they deal with the investment support. “The government will not get into it,” Mr. Rao said.
The meeting was attended by Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Farmers Coordination Committee Chairman Gutta Sukhendar Reddy and district, mandal-level coordinators and agriculture extension officers from 30 districts.
