Panaji: The Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) has completed the monsoon preparatory works on its route from Kolad (after Roha station of the Central Railway) to Thokur (before Mangalore station).

Monsoon time table will come into effect from June 10 up to October 31. Passengers who have been issued tickets are requested to check the status of their trains as the departure timing of some trains will be advanced. Passengers can monitor their trains during monsoon on www.konkanrailway.com or using KRCL App.

L.K. Verma, chief public relations officer, KRCL, said, “There has been no major disruption in train services on account of boulder fall during monsoon in the last five years.”

The Konkan Railway will conduct monsoon patrolling involving 770 personnel to ensure safe running of trains. Vulnerable places will be patrolled round the clock and watchmen will be deployed at critical locations.

Instructions have been issued to the loco drivers to keep the speed at 40 kmph in case of heavy rain. All main signal aspects on the Konkan Railway have been replaced with LED for improving visibility.

Three control rooms at Belapur, Ratnagiri and Madgaon, will work round the clock during monsoon, Mr. Verma said.
