With new committees yet to formed at the state and district levels and confusion over continuance of Raj Babbar as state Congress chief, party leaders felt that the decision to organise meets at block-level to expose Modi and Yogi governments, was likely to be confined to papers.

“We are unsure whether Babbar will continue or not. At a time when new UPCC or even DCCs were yet to be declared, schedule for any program will prove of no help to the party and it will largely be a paper exercise,” opined a senior Congress from a eat UP district.

He said that even names of new UPCC or All India Congress Committee (AICC) members have been not made official but still PCC members were made in-charges to hold block level meets which itself lacks seriousness.

Another former MLA from UP said that in the absence of clarity on contesting the 2019 general elections on its own or in alliancewith regional parties, such programs would prove of no help to the party in expanding base.

Referring to recent zonal and district level meetings convened, the leader said that except for few meetings, no zone or district showed interest in meetings and the exercise was confined to paper.

The former MLA suggested that the AICC should either announce that Babbr would continue or declare his successor and also declare committees for state and district levels. “Then only programmes aimed at preparing ground for the 2019 polls would pay dividends, else workers would not work with zeal, which would only affecting the party’s performance,” the Congress leader felt.

Congress had earlier planned to hold block level meetings and expose failures of NDA government, especially fake promises made to cheat the public promising `Achche Din’ cfrom June 5 to 25.
