In spite of conducting both Matric and Inter examinations on schedule, the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has failed in declaring the board exam results on scheduled time, putting over 7 lakh students in trouble.

The evaluation process which began late this year has created much ordeal for all those State board students who failed to apply to certain institutions, regardless of having good chance of clearing the entrance test exams.

Notably, several State boards functioning across the country had declared the results by May last week considering the students’ interest. Also, JAC past records would say that it happened to be among the first state boards to declare the results in the country.

With no results in hand, the State Board students at present have to face difficulty in taking entrance examinations of various universities and colleges that have already started the process of inviting applications from eligible students. Also, the plus 12 students aspiring to join an engineering college through JEE (Main) are waiting for the results eagerly.

Meanwhile, putting his stance, JAC Chairperson Arvind Prasad Singh said that in an attempt to avert confusion that is often created regarding mark calculation and rechecking, the examining conducting body is taking time in announcing the results. “We do not want that any candidate should suffer due to manual mistakes. Evaluators were given ample time keeping students interest in mind,” Prasad added.

“Do not compare us with other States, as per my knowledge; Bihar board is yet to declare the results irrespective of the fact that there the examination was started in the first week of February. Taking preliminary precautionary measures, we are swiftly moving ahead,” Singh further stated.

Giving tentative dates for declaration of results, the Chairperson said that JAC will release the results of Intermediate (Science and Commerce) either on June 6 or June 7 while within this week, the Matric results will be declared. However, Singh did not give any tentative date as on when Inter (Humanities) results will be announced. As per the examination date sheet released by JAC, test of all subjects got over on April 3. The board exam for both Matric and Inter was started on March 8.

On the other hand, several schools in the city have already completed its entrance test procedure for all candidates to enroll them in different streams. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Inter Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) as well announced the results a week ago while the State board students are in quandary till date over their results.

“Apart CBSE and ICSE, several State boards have announced the results. We are still in a dilemma regarding our results. Moreover, none of the State board students from Jharkhand can apply to other institutions. We are desperately waiting for the result,” said an Inter (Arts) student requesting anonymity.
