Leaving four pit bull puppies in a hot car led to the arrest of a man on an outstanding warrant.
A caller told Reynoldsburg police dispatchers at 9:59 a.m. May 25 that the puppies were "in distress," locked in a parked car with the windows up in the 6000 block of Century City North. When officers arrived, along with Franklin County Animal Control, the car's inside temperature was 111.4 F, according to the police report.
Columbus police had issued warrants for the owner of the car for assault and other crimes. The Reynoldsburg police report said Columbus officers arrived on the scene to make the arrest.
Representatives from Franklin County Animal Control took custody of the puppies.

* Police chased down a suspect in a pending drug deal after receiving a tip from a caller at 5:17 p.m. May 31 who overheard a man discussing the deal and planning to meet a buyer at a business in the 2000 block of Brice Road.
When officers arrived, the suspect ran toward Commons Road, but police caught up with him and arrested him in the 2000 block of Commons Road South. Two more suspects in the pending drug deal were found at the business, police said. Warrants had been issued for both, one by the Lancaster Police Department and one by the Granville Police Department.
* Police received a complaint about loud music coming from a residence on Victoria Court at 8:44 p.m. May 25. When officers arrived, they talked to a grandmother at the residence, who said she was singing "wheels on the bus go round and round" with her grandchildren. The reporting officer concluded the noise was not excessive, according to the report.
* A caller told police at 4:52 p.m. May 26 that someone stole cash from graduation greeting cards that had been placed on a table at a business in the 2400 block of Taylor Square Drive.
* A resident reported hearing shots fired at 6:34 p.m. May 26 in the 7000 block of Trillium Lane. Officers checked the area, but could not find evidence of shots fired, although residents told a property manager that two neighbors had fired guns at each other, according to the police report.
* A shoplifter sped away on a bicycle at 11:33 p.m. May 29 after allegedly stealing items from a business in the 7800 block of East Main Street, police reported. An employee said she saw the man kneeling near the bathrooms and saw something colorful in his backpack, then he walked out of the business and said, "I need it," before leaving on a bicycle. A customer in the store thought the man might have stolen a frozen pizza, according to the police report.
* A caller told police at 4:27 a.m. May 30 that the tires on his vehicle were flattened while it was parked in front of his residence on Tomahawk Trail. Officers found six more cars on that street with tires that had been flattened by an unknown object.
