LUCKNOW: After defeating the
BJP in the recently held bye-elections in Kairana and
Noorpur, the RLD and SP will come together for an 'iftaar party' on Wednesday. The party will be hosted by RLD at its party office to celebrate the victory of its candidate Tabassum Hasan in Kairana.
RLD vice-president Jayant Chaudhary has sent invitations to SP chief
Akhilesh Yadav, BSP supremo
Mayawati and UP Congress president
Raj Babbar to be part of the celebrations. While Mayawati is unlikely to attend the party, RLD leaders anticipated an attendance of Akhilesh and Babbar.
This will be perhaps the first time in the recent history that UP's regional political giants would come together for an iftaar party. The Congress though recently hosted one at its party office, while SP is yet to host one. BSP is not known to organize an iftaar party.
"It is another occasion for all like minded parties to come together," RLD national spokesperson, Anil Dubey told TOI. He said that all the opposition political parties had come together in the recently held by-elections. "It is just time to celebrate the victory through an iftaar party," he said. The SP and RLD had joined hands to defeat the BJP in the recently held high stake bye-elections in Kairana and Noorpur.
Earlier, Akhilesh, Mayawati, Congress president
Rahul Gandhi, his mother Sonia Gandhi and RLD chief
Ajit Singh had shared the dais during swearing in ceremony of JD(S) leader and Karanataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy.
