Indore: The vegetables’ supply to mandis reduced on the fourth day of farmers’ agitation on Monday. About 20 percent of total vegetables required in a day reached market. Though the arrival of vegetables was less, there was no increase in their prices. The milk supply remained unaffected.
About 20 trucks of vegetables reached Devi Ahiyabai Holkar Vegetable and Fruits Mandi on Monday. This is against 100 trucks that reach mandi everyday. The farmers’ agitation failed to leave any impact as district administration made adequate arrangements to prevent crisis.
Faruq Rein, vice-president of whole sale vegetable traders association said arrival of vegetables was affected due to agitation in Punjab. Similarly, arrivals from Rajasthan are likely to be affected from Tuesday. As a result, rates of vegetables may go up from Wednesday. AN Dwivedi, CEO of Indore Dugdha Sangha, said, “We are getting 75% collection from our points. Thus, there is no shortage of milk supply in the city.”
