Emails were sent in the name of school

The city police have begun a probe into a bid to dupe residents by seeking financial aid in the name of a city school through a fake email ID.

The incident came to light when many people approached the Principal of Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Eroor, on Monday, seeking clarification on the email.

According to the police, a fake email ID similar to that of the official ID of the school was created and emails were sent to several persons in the name of the school Principal, seeking to raise money for medical treatment. Those who responded to the email were given bank account details in a reply.

Following this, the school approached the police.

The police cyber cell, based on a preliminary probe, will submit a report to the local circle inspector, who in turn will file a case.
