Zidane quit Real over Hazard and De Gea
It is reported that Zinedine Zidane sensationally quit Champions League winners Real Madrid after a row with president Florentino Perez over the club’s transfer targets.
According to The Sun Zidane and Perez clashed when the Frenchman said he wanted to bring Chelsea’s Eden Hazard to the Bernabeu. Perez said no and told the coach that Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea should be the club’s top target this summer. It’s claimed that the disagreement ended with Zidane telling Perez: “I am done. You take care of the team.”
Zidane’s resignation has boosted Chelsea’s chances of keeping Hazard at Stamford Bridge, the London Evening Standard reports.
Sadio Mane: Liverpool to Real Madrid
Another Premier League star reportedly in Real Madrid’s sights is Liverpool forward Sadio Mane. France Football magazine claims that Mane had “agreed a deal” to join Real before Zidane’s sudden departure. Mane gave Real “his verbal agreement” but the fee had not been discussed. The Liverpool Echo suggests that the Senegal international, who has three years left on his contract, will not be sold by the Anfield club.
