On Tuesday morning, several Noidawallahs came together to plant saplings at a mall and surrounding area in sector 34A. Mishti Thukral, a participant, said, “One generally visits a mall to shop, eat or watch movies. However, planting a tree at a mall was a very fulfiling experience. I am trying to adopt an eco-friendly lifestyle, I have minimised the usage of plastic bags and now, I plan to participate in more such green drives.” Kalpana Adhikari, another participant, added, “Participating in this drive was my way of contributing towards bringing a change in the environment in some way. There are little changes that Noidawallahs can adopt in their lifestyles to make this city cleaner and greener. For instance, while going to a mall one can stop using plastic bags and instead use cloth or jute bags.” Pritika Nagpal, one of the organisers of the event, said, “We hosted a plantation drive to urge more Noidawallahs to come together and plant trees in their surroundings and to make them aware of the dire consequences of deforestation. Noida has vast stretches of barren land, so more such drives need to be organised in the city.”
