PATNA: The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) will announce the Class XII results at 4.30pm on Wednesday. Candidates can check the results on the official website of the examination board – biharboard.ac.in.

BSEB chairman Anand Kishor, who will announce the results along with state education minister Krishnanandan Prasad Verma and principal secretary of the department R K Mahajan at the board’s office here, said the pass percentage of students would be higher this year in comparison to the previous year. “The education system has improved in the state in the last one year, thanks to several initiatives taken by the BSEB to ease the exam load on students. Introduction of 50% objective questions in board exam has helped the students to fare better,” Kishor added.

While the pass percentage of students in Intermediate was 67.66% in 2016, it had reduced to just 35.25% in 2017. Last year, the results were declared on May 30 and only 8.34% students could obtain first division. The percentage of students securing second division stood at 23.65%, while just 3.26% obtained third division. The poor results had prompted the state education department to serve notices on the authorities of such schools where the pass percentage was either nil or less than 10%.

This year, the results of Class XII are being announced after physical verification of top performers. Toppers from all three streams – science, commerce and arts – were called at the BSEB office on June 1 and 2 for physical verification and IQ test. The handwritings of the top performers were also matched with their answer sheets by a team of experts.

The BSEB was scheduled to announce the Intermediate results on June 7. However, it advanced the deadline by a day as the last date of registration for undergraduate courses in Delhi University is June 7.

More than 12.08 lakh students had appeared for BSEB Class XII exams this year. The top five rank holders in each stream will get scholarship under the Desh Ratna Dr Rajendra Prasad Medha Chatravriti scheme of the state government. Such students will also get cash prizes and other incentives.
