Rs 24.90 crore sanctioned for overall development of homeopathy: Minister

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has given administrative sanction for initiatives worth Rs 24.90 crore for overall development of homeopathy branch of medicine in the state, health minister K K Shailaja said.
It includes Rs 1.10 crore for launching new homeopathy clinics and dispensaries, Rs 25 lakh for Janani fertility centre, Rs 3 crore for construction and renovation of homoeopathic institutions, Rs 75 lakh for state homeopathy cooperative pharmacy, Rs 7.50 crore for the modernization of state homeopathy department and Rs 7.30 crore for health maintenance and healthcare centres.

Of the Rs 3 crore earmarked for renovation of homeopathic institutions, Rs 2 crore will be given to district homeopathy hospital, Ernakulam and Rs 1 crore for the district homeopathy hospital, Thrissur. The modernization of the homeopathy department includes upgradation of homeopathy hospitals to NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers) classified institutions, converting homeo dispensaries to model dispensaries, strengthening of existing model dispensaries, setting up clinical laboratories in hospitals, implement e-governance and construction of district medical stores, for which Rs 7.50 crore will be utilized.

Under health maintenance and special healthcare centres, Rs 7.30 crore will be utilized for combating communicable diseases, for improving care centres for women and children in Kannur, development of specialty care centres in Thiruvananthapuram and Idukki and specialty mobile clinics.
