Blackhawk guard Mackenzie Amalia decided to stay close to home in college. The rising junior committed to play basketball at Robert Morris on Monday.
For the past two seasons, Blackhawk guard Mackenzie Amalia and Beaver guard Bella Posset dueled frequently as their teams met in section rivalry games and again in the playoffs.
If all goes according to plan, they'll soon be teammates.
Amalia, who will be a junior at Blackhawk next season, announced her verbal commitment to play college basketball at Robert Morris University on Monday.

As a sophomore, Amalia averaged 17 points per game as Blackhawk went 19-4, shared the section title with Beaver, and reached the state playoffs. Amalia was named second-team all-state this past season. She has been on the radar of Division I coaches since she was in junior high, when she picked up her first scholarship offer from Duquesne.
Amalia's commitment to Robert Morris continues an impressive run of Division I talent at Blackhawk. Teammate Mady Aulbach, who will be a senior in the fall, is committed to Youngstown State. Breanna Hoover is a freshman at Kennesaw State in Georgia, Courtney Vannoy will be a senior at Loyola (MD), and Chassidy Omogrosso will be a senior at Duquesne.
Amalia's older sister, Madison, is a freshman on the basketball team at Division II St. Thomas Aquinas (N.Y.)
