Surat: Struggling to get clues in the murder of a woman and a boy, whose bodies were found near Saniya village on May 19, the city police have decided to put up 5,000 posters to help establish their identities and trace the culprits.
The decomposed bodies packed in a plastic bag were found near Iklera Crossroads under Saniya village limits. A graphic image of the poster has also been shared through social media and messaging applications. Police have also announced cash reward for anyone who gives information about the duo.
The poster has details about the case in five languages — Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, English and Oriya — along with images of the jewellery and clothes found on the bodies.
Post-mortem report revealed that the woman was around 25-year-old while the boy was around 5-year-old. The woman has ‘Aum’ tattooed on her hand. Police have sent the samples collected from their bodies for DNA profiling and awaiting the report.
“We want to find out the relationship between the woman and the boy,” said a police official.
Police teams went to Dahod and Panchmahal with details of the belongings for identification but they did not get any success. The police also questioned farm labourers from Surat district’s southern parts and adjoining areas of Navsari district for clues. However, this too did not yield any clues.
“We have got 5,000 posters printed to identify the two. These will be pasted at different locations where maximum people can see them. Identification of the deceased is the best possible way to detect the case as of now,” said a senior police officer.
As the area where the bodies were dumped is on the city’s outskirts, police have not got any CCTV footages of suspicious vehicles.
