Kumaraswamy directs BBMP to be on high alert ahead of monsoon

Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy instructed the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to take all necessary preventive measures to tackle the monsoon-related problems in Bengaluru city.
Talking to the officials at the BBMP meeting to discuss the issue, CM said that monsoon season has begun, and all parts of the city are receiving good rainfall accompanied by high winds.
MET forecasts also suggest good monsoon rains this year, CM said. In this context, Kumaraswamy directed the officials to be on high alert regarding the safety of the people and take all precautionary measures to prevent any mishaps or difficulties to citizens or damages to the properties.
He instructed the officials to monitor the low-lying areas in the city and take possible steps to prevent water logging and flooding in drains and roads.
BBMP officials, when queried by CM on the progress in filling the potholes, assured that potholes are being filled on a war foot basis. The officials informed CM that most of the potholes have been filled up in the city ahead of the rains, and the filling up work is in progress on the remaining ones.
Chief minister also expressed his concern over the increase in the public complaints on the city's waste management system. He pointed out that the city's waste management system is still in a bad shape. He said that maintaining hygiene is a priority of the government and alerted the officials to take immediate measures to improve the services.
