Examination held in 27 centres

Only about 39% of the candidates who have applied for the Union Public Service Commission’s Civil Services (preliminary) examination, 2018 have turned up at the examination centres here on Sunday.

The number of aspirants and the overall attendance for the examination in the city has slightly increased this year compared to last year.

The number of candidates who applied for the examination was 12,196 this year against 11,567 last year. Out of the total applicants, only 4,848 persons attended the examination in the morning session and the number came down to 4,762 in the afternoon session, according to officials. Last year, only 4,235 candidates took the examination in the city. The examination was smoothly conducted in 27 centres, including the special centre for differently-abled candidates at the Sri Krishnaveni School in the Vijayawada region.

Six assistant coordinating supervisors, two liaisoning officers, 67 assistant supervisors and 1,160 invigilators were deputed for the exam by the district administration.

Inspection

Collector B. Lakshmikantham inspected various exams centres, including the Gandhiji Mahila Kalasala, Bishop Azariah School for Girls and the SRR & CVR Govt. College.
