A former FBI lawyer who last year said the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) has been on a "knife-edge for years" has been named the agency's new boss.
Lisa Osofsky, who has prosecuted over a hundred cases for the US government and used to work in Goldman Sachs's anti-money laundering team, will become director of the white-collar crime authority in September.
Her appointment comes a year after Theresa May tried to close the agency and hand its responsibilities over to anti-drug and human trafficking body the National Crime Agency (NCA), dubbed Britain's FBI.
