Centre has enhanced the compensation for loss of milch animals due to cross-border firing in Jammu and Kashmir to 50 thousand per milch animal. Earlier the compensation was 30 thousand rupees.
Home Ministry said, border areas of Jammu and Kashmir are facing losses of livestock, crops and houses due to cross-border firing from across the border. It said, considering the problem of border-residents, government has increased the compensation amount.
The Ministry said, these claims will initially be paid by the State Government after evaluating the actual loss.
The amount will then reimbursed by the Ministry of Home Affairs under Security Related Expenditure (Relief and Rehabilitation) Scheme.
