CM holds meeting to review drinking water supply

Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday held a meeting with senior officers of the State Government here to review the drinking water supply in Shimla town.

The Chief Minister was informed by the officers, that MC Shimla received 37.63 MLD water, which was distributed according to the time table on Sunday. He was informed that water was supplied in Krishna Nagar, Ram Bazar, Lower Bazar, Jakhu, Benmore, Engine Ghar, Sanjauli Chowk, Dhalli, Mashobra, Bhattakufar, Shanti Vihar, Malyana and Shangti areas.

The Chief Minister was also informed that water supply through tankers was ensured where water could not be distributed due to some reasons. It was informed that 1.85 lakh litre water was supplied to different parts of the town through tankers.

The Chief Minister was informed that water would be supplied to Kusumpti, Pantha Ghatti, Chhota Shimla, Vikasnagar, Patiyog, Kangnadhar, New Shimla and Khalini areas on June 4.

Thakur directed that water should be distributed strictly according to the scheduled time table. He also directed the officers to ensure effective checking of water losses due to leakages.

IPH Minister  Mahender Singh Thakur directed to install hand pumps at identified spots at the earliest. He said that 11 hand pumps would be installed in Shimla and its peripheries at the earliest.
