Karnataka police arrests Hiriyadka SI in Hussainabba death case

UDUPI: Udupi police have arrested D N Kumar, the sub-inspector of Hiriyadka police station in connection with the death of Hussainabba (61) of Jokatte, Mangaluru,. Hussainabba was found dead at Perdoor on Wednesday.

Further investigation revealed that Gopal who worked as a driver in Hiriyadka police station and Mohan Kothwal, a head constable, were also involved in covering up the assault on Hussainabba which ultimately led to his death.

SP Laxman Nimbargi speaking to Express said that the SI and the two other police staffers have admitted that they did not stop the assault on Hussainabba allegedly by the Bajrang Dal activists. Hussainabba along with others was reportedly transporting cattle illegally in the wee hours of May 30. In all, 10 persons have been arrested.

Nimbargi also said that FSL report would further reveal the cause of the death of Hussainabba as he was alive when the police rushed to the spot and took him into their custody.
