The National Reddy Welfare Association has demanded reservation in education and employment to the poorer sections among the community. Also, the community wants OBC status accorded to it and extension of schemes that come with the tag. At the ‘Reddy Simha Garjana’ organised in Tirupati on Sunday, members of the community passed a series of resolutions, which included the demand for constitution of a Reddy corporation with ₹1,000 crore at the State and ₹10,000 crore at the national levels. At the meeting, which began with welcome address by national president G. Karunakar Reddy, speakers, including legislators from across the State, demanded age relaxation in competitive examinations, financial support for overseas education, scholarship and fee reimbursement, ₹10 lakh ex gratia for farmers who had committed suicide, and government job for a family member.
