RAMGARH: After mothering a calf for one year, a man in Ramgarh organised gala fete on Sunday to celebrate its birthday. The cattle lover working as a para teacher in a school organised the celebration at his home in village Bhuchungdih under Chitarpur block where his family, friends and villagers were invited. The guests attended the unique birthday party with gift for the beautiful white calf whose mother died in a road mishap.

House was beautifully decorated and candles were lighted up during cake cutting rituals. Sanjay Kewat, the para teacher, who turned mother to the calf, named it Jay taking last three letters of his name.

The cattle lover family distributed invitations to friends and villagers requesting them to attend birthday celebration of Jay whom he treats as a family member.

A cake brought with his name Jay to celebrate first birth day. Family members lighted up a candle and ritual Arti was performed. When calf Jay touched the cake everyone joining the unique birthday sang ‘happy birthday to you Jay’. Daughters of cattle lover offered cake to calf. Sweets were distributed to guests attending a birthday party of first of its kind in the village.

Meanwhile father of three daughters and a son Sanjay Kumar said that now we have seven members in our family. “A pregnant cow was injured in a road mishap near Rajrappa temple. I brought her home and started treatment with the help of a veterinary doctor. She, however, died after a few days of giving birth to a beautiful white calf,” Sanjay said adding that it was a challenge for his family to raise the motherless calf.
