SITAMARHI/PATNA: Three persons killed their father, stepmother and two stepbrothers over a land dispute in Banchauri village under the Dumraon police station area in Sitamarhi district on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. All the three accused persons were arrested when they were trying to flee to adjoining Nepal.

The deceased were identified as Ram Vilas Sah (60), Sunita Devi (55), Rahul Kumar (28) and Bhola Sah (25). The accused Pappu Kumar, Rohit Kumar and Bittu Kumar had a scuffle with their father Ram Vilas and stepbrothers Rahul and Bhola at around 1.30am on Monday for more share in the family property. Sources said the three fired several rounds and killed the four on the spot.

Dumraon SHO Vikash Kumar Singh said Ram Vilas had divorced his first wife Mantuniya Devi and married Sunita. “Sunita was the stepmother and Rahul and Bhola were the stepbrothers of the three accused, who lived with their mother Mantuniya in the same village. They were quarrelling with their father to give them more shares in the family property. When they failed to reach any agreement, the trio killed their father, stepmother and stepbrothers,” he said and added, “They have confessed to their crime.” Mantuniya was still evading arrest.

“The bodies were sent to sadar hospital for postmortem. Police have recovered the pistol and live cartridges from the spot,” he said.
