Williams: Billiat can add value at Chiefs

2018-06-04 07:17

Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Mark Williams says Khama Billiat can be a good signing for Amakhosi going into the new season.

Billiat is out of contract at Mamelodi Sundowns and has been linked with Absa Premiership big guns such as Chiefs and Orlando Pirates as well as a move overseas.

Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has also recently stated that he is not throwing in the towel in convincing the talented attacking midfielder to renew his contract with the club.

Williams, who played for both the Brazilians and Amakhosi during his career, is adamant the Zimbabwean would be a big catch for any team in the Premiership.

"It is very interesting, I would like to see where he is going to go, because I mean Chiefs need to get some silverware and a player like Khama can add value to their team," Williams told Vodacom Soccer.

"Maybe if he goes to Chiefs they will put him behind the strikers and not as a striker like at Sundowns, where they play with a lot of pace.

"There is a need for Chiefs to buy quality players going into the new season and Khama has that experience having played a bit part in the success of Sundowns in recent years.

"He has been one of the great players in our league and for me it would be nice because what Chiefs needs is youth and top quality players."
