COIMBATORE: A special team of the Coimbatore city police rushed to Kerala in search of the two more accused, Sundar and Kithar Mohammed in connection with the counterfeit currency note case.
After the arrest of B Ananth for circulating counterfeit currency, the police are on the lookout for two main accused – R Sundar (38) of Karamadai and S Kithar Mohammed (55) of Vadavalli. Based on a tip-off, the special team rushed to Kerala to arrest the duo. According to sources, Kithar Mohammed is a native of Palakkad.

“Sundar, a habitual offender, has two cases pending against him for his involvement in printing counterfeit currency note in the city around a decade ago. Similarly, Kithar Mohammed, who belonged to a separate gang involved in the counterfeit currency note printing, was an expert in circulating the fake notes with the help of agents,” sources in city police said.

Both got in touch when they were lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison. Ananth also got in touch with the duo in the prison. Among the two, though Sundar was believed to have resided in the Karamadai, police said, he also has a hideout in Annaikatty.

Though police have no idea that how much fake currency they would have circulated, the cops said that they would arrive at a conclusion after the arresting the duo. “After arresting them, if any larger conspiracy is revealed, the case could be transferred to the CB-CID,” a senior official in the city police said.
