Apple Inc.’s WWDC keynote showed that the company cares about investors.

No, the company didn’t make any shareholder-return announcements, and its software updates didn’t affect the stock. Rather, Apple showed its interest in investors when it said that it was about to give its tired Stocks app a makeover.

Apple  said Monday at its Worldwide Developers Conference that the Stocks app would sport a new look on the forthcoming iOS 12 mobile operating system. That update typically comes out in the fall, around when Apple has launched its new iPhone line.

Up until Monday, the Stocks app on the iPhone looked pretty bare and hadn’t seen many changes since its arrival years ago. News came via a feed from Yahoo Finance, and to find charts, you had to look pretty hard.

The redesigned iPhone app will bring in business stories from Apple News, which users will be able to view within the app. It will also show small charts depicting a stock’s performance throughout the day. The new iPad version of the app will have top business stories on one side of the screen and a sidebar with stock information on the other side.

Currently there’s no Stocks app for the Mac, but Apple said that its new Mojave Mac operating system would add one.

Apple shares ended up 0.8% in Monday trading, marking the first time that the stock ended up on the first day of its WWDC event. The Dow Jones Industrial Average  ticked up 0.7%.
