Ujjain: Ujjain tribal welfare department’s district convener and his predecessor were suspended for keeping complaint regarding inter-marriage promotion incentive lodged with Chief Minister’s helpline pending. District convener RR Shukla and his predecessor SK Rawat were suspended on the basis of collector Manish Singh’s probe report. The two were suspended on Sunday after the report was approved by divisional commissioner MB Ojha.
On January 20, 2018, Vandana Tal of Aagar Road in Ujjain lodged a complaint with CM Helpline claiming that despite being sanctioned, she and her husband were yet to receive Rs 2 lakh for marriage promotion. They had not even received citation for inter-caste marriage. Complaints made on the CM Helpline were continuing and no interest was taken by the authorities concerned to resolve it.
After the complaint reached commissioner, collector was asked to probe into it. The probe found that both Rawat and Shukla had deliberately suspended the case and had forwarded false information that payment was not being made owing to budget crunch.
Garlic sale under Bhavantar: 2 brokers nabbed
On instructions of divisional commissioner MB Ojha, strict action was taken by district administration on Sunday by exposing a network of brokers instrumental in sale of garlic under the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana in Barnagar tehsil. Two brokers were booked under Section 151 of the CrPC and investigation is underway. Commissioner had instructed collector Manish Singh to unearth scam in purchase of garlic in Barnagar area after a video went viral.
The collector sent additional collector BBS Tomar to Barnagar on Sunday for investigation. The investigation was carried out on the basis of video. However, no sale was found to have been registered in the name of person identified in the video. After checking mandis in nearby areas, it was found that two brokers of Barnagar Gopal and Vikram were active in such act and were operating a brokerage business in Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana by making a receipt for sale of fake garlic from Barnawar Mandi’s shop number 38.
Rs. 800 per quintal are being given to the famer on the sale of garlic in mandi under the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana. However, the duo was issuing fake receipt to farmer with price of Rs 210 to Rs 250 per quintal. The duo targeted farmers who did not sow garlic but registered themselves for procurement.
