Lotus’s boss has left the sports car manufacturer less than a year after it was acquired by Chinese automotive giant Geely.
Jean-Marc Gales was brought in to the Norfolk-based company in 2014 with a remit to get it back on track after an ambitious expansion plan under former Ferrari marketing chief boss Dany Bahar failed.
Joining from Peugeot-owner Groupe PSA, Mr Gales was tasked with stripping out costs and ending years of losses at Lotus while boosting sales.
In September last year Geely, which also owns Volvo, electric black cab company LEVC, Proton and Lynk&Co, took a majority stake in Lotus and appointed several of its key executives to the company.
