AMBRIDGE — A borough man is facing charges after he punched a woman in the face twice and injured the small child that she was holding, police said.
According to the report, Demetrius J. Senior, 24, was arrested after he hit a woman and knocked a small child into a door.
Police said officers were called at about 3:15 p.m. Saturday to a Kerr Street home where a woman reported Senior punched her in the face two times and injured the child that she was holding.
The woman said Senior went to her home and asked her to step outside on the back porch because he was mad about something and wanted to talk to her about it, police said. According to the report, the woman had a 1-year-old child in her arms when she walked out to meet Senior.
Police said as the woman walked outside, Senior “ran up the stairs” and punched her in the face two times. The punches cause the woman’s cheek to split and she began to bleed, police said.
According to the report, the incident also caused the child to hit her head on the door. Police said the child began to cry. Senior ran from the home and the woman called for help, police said.
The victim and the child went to Heritage Valley Sewickley hospital for evaluation, according to the report.
Police said Senior was not located at his home immediately after the incident, but was later found walking in the 1300 block of Merchant Street.
Senior, of 170 Crestview Village, was charged on June 2 by Ambridge police with endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault and harassment. He was taken to the Beaver County Jail after failing to post a $20,000 bond, records show.
