Accused of harassing girls, shepherd tied to tree and thrashed

A 23-year-old shepherd in Rajasthan's district has alleged that he was tied to a tree and thrashed by a group of local residents who accused him of harassing girls, police said today.

The incident took place on May 26 in a village under the station where the victim, Moolchand, was grazing his sheep in a hamlet, investigating said.

Accusing him of harassing girls, some local residents asked to leave with his sheep, he said.

Shortly after, the accused allegedly caught Moolchand, took him to a nearby temple and beat him up after tying him to a tree, Lal added.

lodged an FIR yesterday.

No arrests have been made so far and a probe is underway, the investigating said.
