NOIDA: Laying to rest all speculation of privatising
Noida stadium and its facilities, Noida Authority additional CEO R K Mishra assured residents on Monday that a public-private partnership (
PPP)
model is being worked out so that national-international level coaching facilities for all sports can be provided to residents of the city.
“For the last 20 years, training in different sports such as lawn tennis, badminton, squash, table tennis, skating, karate, aerobics, football and cricket are provided at Noida stadium through different coaches through the sports council. Complaints have been received from those using the facility as well as sport enthusiasts that despite quality games and facilities, coaching at international level is lacking at the stadium,” said Mishra.
Mishra added that to make the facilities in the stadium more useful and productive like those in other states of Delhi, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu etc.
PPP model is being considered. “This will enable international and national level coaching facilities for the citizens of Noida,” added Mishra.
TOI had earlier reported that Mishra has promised visitors and morning walkers won’t be charged. “Despite PPP model, coaching fee as well as administrative control of the stadium will continue to remain with Authority and there will be no charge levied on those who visit the stadium daily for the morning and evening walks,” said the ACEO.
