If you were expecting all the cast members of the Roseanne cast to stay as silent as John Goodman about the show's cancellation, think again. On The Talk this morning, Sara Gilbert had no qualms speaking out about the upsetting turn of events that lost her and so many others their jobs.
"I would like to say this has been a very difficult week," Gilbert said. "A lot of people have been hurt by this... I'm sad for the people who lost their jobs in the process. However, I do stand behind the decision that ABC made."
ABC reacted swiftly to Roseanne Barr's racially charged tweet comparing former Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett to an ape, canceling the show and calling her comment "abhorrent" and "repugnant."
Gilbert reacted similarly to the tweet, tweeting out a statement of her own denouncing Roseanne Barr's comments. On The Talk, however, Gilbert did make an effort to separate her co-star's comments from the show they'd put so much hard work into. "I will say I'm proud of the show we made," Gilbert said. "The show has always been about diversity, love and inclusion, and it's sad to see it end in this way."
