Blogger-turned-writer Nikhila releases her maiden book

It was quite a moment for city youngster Nikhila Chalamalasetty, a blogger-turned-writer, when her maiden book ‘The day I started flying’, here on Sunday.

For 25-year-old wheelchair-bound Nikhila, heaps of praises were showered especially for never-say-die-attitude. Born normal, she showed signs of weakness when she was five and her muscles weakened and degenerated gradually, binding her to a wheelchair.

Of will and pursuit

But, she did not give up and pursued her passion for writing through her blogposts on an array of subjects. Later, her family members and friends inspired her to publish all her works in the form of a book. Releasing the book, noted journalist and orator Turlapati Kutumba Rao said Nikhila truly drove the message home that nothing was impossible for the GenX if there was a will.

“Nikhila has created an example for all that physical impairment is not a curse. She never deviated from her pursuit to emerge as a writer. It is all about positive thinking,” Mr. Kutumba Rao said.

Hyderabad-based Paralympian Baljeet Kaur, who is confined to a wheelchair for more than three decades, hailed the grit of the young writer. “It just took 45 days for Nikhila’s thoughts to be transformed into a book. She should be seen a motivator for Nikhila has proved that she is differently abeld,” she said, adding that the young writer was a shining example for the people who were bound to wheel chairs to pursue their dreams.

Krishna District Writers Association president G. V. Purnachand read out the excerpts of the book. Budding writer Nikhil Chandwani and senior journalist Krishnam Raju were present on the occasion.
