Man Utd transfer news: Gareth Bale would sign if Maurizio Sarri was United manager - Nicol
GARETH BALE would be much more likely to join Manchester United if Maurizio Sarri was the manager of the Red Devils, according to former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol.
Bale has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid after he admitted he was not happy with his playing time at the Bernabeu.
Manchester United are favourites to sign the Wales international but Nicol doubts if he would want to play under Jose Mourinho.
He says Sarri’s style of play would suit Bale much more than Mourinho’s would.
Sarri left Napoli at the end of the season and has been linked with the Chelsea manager’s job.

If Sarri, for example, was the manager of Manchester United, this whole thing would be an awful lot easier
“We’ve always spoken about Gareth Bale going to Manchester United,” Nicol said on ESPN FC.
“The question has always been the same one.
“Considering the way Mourinho plays, considering Mourinho would want him to defend, would Gareth Bale want to go to Manchester United?
“If Sarri, for example, was the manager of Manchester United, this whole thing would be an awful lot easier."

Zinedine Zidane resigned as Real Madrid boss last week and Nicol believes that will change Bale's thinking going future.
“(But) the fact that Zidane has gone, I don’t see any way that Bale goes," he continued.
“And by the way, if he does go, it would be a lot more than €100m.”
