A group of people thronged the office of Superintendent of Police R. Sakthivel here on Monday, demanding action against a few relatives of former Minister R. Viswanathan, who had allegedly collected ₹83 lakh from them for getting government jobs to their wards and relatives. But they neither got them jobs nor refunded the money, the petitioners said.

In a petition submitted at the office, the petitioners, who included L. Suseela, R. Rajendran and S. Manikandan, all from Madurai, R. Venkatesh of Dindigul and M. Jeyalakshmi of Natham, said more than 10 persons had given ₹83 lakh to B. Santha Devi, B. Thyagu and R. Bharathi of Uluppagudi for getting jobs to their wards in different government departments in 2015. But they were not provided jobs.

“When we pressed them to repay the money, their relatives threatened to kill us if we demanded money. Natham police did not register our complaints,” one of the petitioners said.
