On the heels of the Cambridge Analytica mess, Facebook has a new scandal on their hands - a New York Times report that says the social media giant had data sharing agreements with at least 60 phone and device manufacturers!????According to the New York Times, Facebook signed agreements with Apple, Samsung, Blackberry, and Microsoft that gave them access to Facebook user data AND the data of their friends. ????Samsung didn’t comment, Apple says the partnership only allowed users to post photos to Facebook without the app, Microsoft claims no data was stored on their servers, and Blackberry flat out denies the claims.????A former Facebook privacy compliance head told the Times the data sharing agreement “appears to contradict Facebook’s testimony to Congress that all friend permissions were disabled.”????In a statement, Facebook’s VP of partnerships said:????“While we agreed with many of past concerns about the controls over Facebook information shared with third-party app developers, we disagree with the issues they’ve raised about these APIs.” ????Mark Zuckerberg has yet to comment.????
