The United Nations World Tourism Organization says that tourism is Nigeria’s future

The organization has taken a pledge to support the country in growing the sector.
Mr Zurab Pololikashvili, UNWTO Secretary-General, made the statement in Abuja at a pre-conference media meeting that he spoke to the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

 
The News Agency of Nigeria reports Pololikashvili and other executives of the organization coming to Nigeria early this Sunday morning to take part in the 61st UNWTO Commission for Africa (CAF) conference from June 4 to June 6 in Abuja.

 
In 2017, Nigeria won the right to arrange UNWTO-CAF conference, which is the meeting of all African Ministers of Tourism, principal executives of the global tourism body along with the stakeholders related to the tourism sector.

 
Pololikashvili stated that Nigeria has many possibilities in terms of tourism to show the world and the meeting industry that it would serve as a key platform to display the country as continental tourism hub.

 
He highly praised the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for recognizing the tourism as one of the sectors for economic diversification.

 
He also mentioned that the tourism sector is gaining weight as a development opportunity for the whole continent, with its huge variety in terms of nature, culture and its greatest vehicle for development.
