As a consequence, to perk up the tourism sector, town’s local businesses have gripped crypto currencies — the once underground but more and more becoming mainstream payments technology to lure new digitally-savvy tourists.
The local communities, frantically try new things, are actually happy to bring crypto into the fold, putting themselves on the map in terms of impending demographic of hodlers who would’ve never considered traveling to the towns before.
The beginning of the strategic pivot? TravelbyBit, Queensland’s crypto startup is all prepared to make easy cryptocurrency payments in the coastal getaways. At present, upwards of 30 local businesses have signed to acknowledge cryptocurrencies as payment for their respective services. The businesses that greeted the cryptocurrencies run the gamut, like accommodation providers, restaurants, and tour operators.
Indeed, Arty Cipak, owner of the local tours company Moondoggie Beach and Bush Tours, said:“If it’s going to take cryptocurrency to get tourists to town, then bring it on.”
TravelbyBit CEO Caleb Yeoh, escorted by 20 international travelers, will make the first payments with crypto in the tourist towns to launch the new campaign.
“If you travel around the world you have to deal with multiple currencies, the exchange rate can be confusing, sometimes you struggle to find ATMs, and sometimes you get swindled by money changers. Travelling with one global currency like Bitcoin[ …] makes sense.” said Yeoh.
