PITTSBURGH — Sing along with Ringo at The Rangos Giant Cinema this summer, as Pittsburgh's largest movie screen shows the Beatles' "Yellow Submarine."
The newly restored, iconic animated film will screen July 20-26 at the cinema located inside the Carnegie Science Center. Tickets are on sale now for $9.95 at carnegiesciencecenter.org
“When 'Yellow Submarine' hit the silver screen in 1968, fans were in awe of the spectacular hand-drawn animation and how it brought The Beatles’ music to life,” Rangos Giant Cinema senior director Chad Hunter said. “Now restored in 4K digital resolution, 'Yellow Submarine’s' colorful world and characters will appear even more vibrant and mesmerizing."
With the film’s songs and score remixed in 5.1 stereo surround sound, the newly restored classic "is literally tailor-made for the technology we have in our theater," Hunter said in a press release.
Based upon a song by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, "Yellow Submarine" is a groovy tale brimming with peace, love, and hope, propelled by Beatles songs, including “Eleanor Rigby,” “When I’m Sixty-Four,” “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” and “All You Need is Love."
The Tull Family Theater in Sewickley also will show "Yellow Submarine" July 19 and 29 as part of its summer music series.
