A certain US tourist accommodation website known as HomeAway is now making efforts to transform the traditional Japanese houses for globetrotters from various parts of the world.

A new Japanese law is well on its way to take effect on 15th June.

Basically it would permit anyone to rent vacant rooms and houses to visitors by registering with the regional authorities. In the city of Ukiha that is located in Fukuoka Prefecture in southern portion of Japan, officials are making sincere attempts to renovate a 150-year-old house and plan to rent it out to tourists.

Vacant stores, old row houses and buildings are also being targeted for these conversion projects.

Officials at the Japan Tourism Agency state that they are quite hopeful that the new law would be triggering similar efforts across the country.
