Yogi govt has drawn an ambitious plan for Bundelkhand region

Pursuing its flagship agenda of accelerating the development of the parched Bundelkhand region, Yogi Adityanath government has drawn an ambitious plan for its all round development. The plan coming close on the heels of the proposed investment of Rs 20,000 crore in defense corridor in Bundelkhand is to cover seven sectors of economy.

``The government is working on a comprehensive plan for the industrial development of the Bundelkhand. For this purpose an investors summit is proposed to be organised in Jhansi on June 9.   The summit is likely to deliberate the plans on region specific strategies for the development’’, said an official of the industries department.  The summit will be organized on the patterns of `UP investor’s summit’ held here in February.

The focus of the summit will be seven sectors including   —ancillary units for defense corridor, food processing, agriculture, MSME, tourism, geology and mining and solar energy.  The summit aims to showcase the Bundelkhand as an ideal destination for investment following the likely spurt in local economy after the announcement of the defense corridor and series of concession announced by the state government for the investors in the region.

 For job creation in Bundelkhand facing the perennial problem of migration due to drought  the state government  is in the process of  implementing `mahila dairy Yojna’ under `National Rural Livelihood Mission. The Center has approved the plan which aims to provide financial assistance to 50,000 women including the `women self help groups’ in the region for self employment which will add additional production of 1.60 lakh liters of milk per day. 

Under the plan dairy industry will be promoted in 22 development blocks of Banda, Jhansi, Hamirpur, Jalaun and chitrakoot. Loans for dairy will be given to women self help groups and estimated Rs 43 crore are proposed to be spent on the project.   The rural development department, the agency for implementing National rural livelihood mission will soon training programme. Official sources said besides creating fresh employment opportunities this scheme would help address the problem of stray cattle in Bundelkhand where large number of dry cattle’s are released in the open and they cause number of problems.

Soon after the ``UP Investors summit’ the state government had announced se3veral sops for the promoting the industrial development of the backward Bundelkhand region which included land at concessional rates along with basic amenities to the entrepreneurs. 

The industries minister Satish Mahana  recently addressing a meeting of the Bundelkhand chambers of commerce said  that the government wants the people of the region to be self dependent and more and more avenues for employment be created. He said   rapid industrialization is needed for the comprehensive development of the region. For promoting tourism in the region the tourism department is working on the project for developing tourist circuits in Bundelkhand.  

Bundelkhand stands to be the huge gainer from the defense corridor proposed to constructed in Bundelkhand and Agra in Western Uttar Pradesh as it has the potential to generate employment for the 2.5 Lakh people. The project will have long term implication for UP. The small and the medium industry in UP will be specifically  benefitted  by the defense corridor  with initial investment of Rs 20,000 crore and this project is all set to be a game changer for Uttar Pradesh.
