Man and woman charged over brazen bag-snatch at Fremantle supermarket

Police have charged two people over string of stealing incidents across Perth, including a brazen theft at a Fremantle supermarket in May.

A call for information went out at the end of last month, with WA Police releasing video footage allegedly showing a man and woman working together to steal a handbag from an 81-year-old woman’s trolley while she was shopping at Coles Fremantle on May 18.

A 30-year-old man and 23-year-old woman have since been charged with stealing over the incident, in addition to other theft charges already levelled against the pair.

The man has been charged with 14 offences relating to stealing and fraud incidents in Warwick, Mirrabooka, Yokine and Perth between April and May, and appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday. He is due to reappear on Tuesday.

The woman has received a summons to face another stealing offence relating to an incident in Cannington, and will appear in court at a later date to face both charges.
