Mother says he is under psychological pressure of transgender groups

A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Monday ordered a medical/psychological examination of a 25-year-old person who claims to be a transgender. The directive comes on a petition filed by the youth’s mother.

The Bench of Justice V. Chithambaresh and Justice K.P. Jyothindranath directed that the man be admitted to the Kusumagiri Mental Health Centre, Kakkanad, and that he be examined by a team of doctors. The court wanted the report to be placed before it on June 7. The Bench interacted with the parents and the youth, who asserted that he was a transgender. However, it was denied by his parents.

The petitioner alleged that her son who once suffered from mood disorder had been illegally detained by a gang of transgenders. She added that her son was not a transgender either physically or psychologically. In fact, even his name was changed due to a conspiracy by the interested transgender gang.

Organ harvest fears

She said her son had psychological abnormalities when he did his graduation and underwent treatment for a month. He was back to normal life. However, he started making friends with transgenders in the locality. He told the police that he was a transgender and that he did not want to stay with his parents.

The parents feared that the transgender gang might use him for harvesting organs and use him for illegal activities.
