NEW DELHI: The chief minister’s Arvind Kejriwal iftar party on Monday was a quiet affair, as many VIPs were missing including vice president Venkaiah Naidu, lieutenant governor Anil Baijal, former vice-president Hamid Ansari and former CM Sheila Dikshit.
AAP leader Amanatullah Khan, embroiled in the controversy over the alleged assault of the chief secretary, was also missing from the party. An official from Urdu Academy said invitations were sent to all constitutional leaders and dignitaries.

Deputy CM Manish Sisodia along with cabinet ministers Gopal Rai, Satyender Jain, Imran Hussain, MLA Sanjeev Jha, AAP chief spokesperson Dilip Pandey along with AAP councillor Ramesh Matiala were seen. The event was organised at Palika Services Officers Institute in Nehru Park along with Urdu Academy.

Kejriwal, while addressing the gathering, said, “I pray to god to give us the strength to carry forward the mission that we started years ago against corruption. There is conspiracy going on to break us but god is with those who follow the right path. We wish you all happy Ramzan.”

The event had many tents, along with a separate enclosure for Kejriwal and his special guests. The well-planned menu included several counters offering both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.
