Nava Nirmana Deeksha: Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naiduvows to turn Jonnagiri into a model village
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has spent the entire Sunday at Jonnagiri, a remote village in Kurnool district, as part of his Nava Nirmana Deeksha programme.

KURNOOL: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has spent the entire Sunday at Jonnagiri, a remote village in Kurnool district, as part of his Nava Nirmana Deeksha programme. Participating in a slew of programmes during the day-long visit to Jannagiri, Naidu inaugurated farm ponds and promised to turn the village into a model village in the State.
The village wore a festive look with CM and higher officials of the State government accompanying him went round it and interacted with the residents.
Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murthy, Kurnool District In-charge Minister Kalva Srinivasulu, Water Resources Minister Umamaheswara Rao, Salivahana Federation Chairman Tuggali Nagendra, Kurnool MP Butta Renuka, Kurnool MLA SV Mohan Reddy and other key leaders and higher officials accompanied the CM.
The CM flew into the village by a helicopter from Puttaparti on Sunday morning. Then, he visited Scheduled Caste and Backward Class colonies where he spent time with locals and interacted them in their houses constructed under the NTR Housing Scheme. He also interacted with people including Self-Help Group (SHG) women and enquired about implementation of the welfare schemes and their uses.
Later, he participated in a Grama Sabha and Nava Nirmana Deeksha where he visited a photo exhibition organised by the district administration on developmental activities in the State.
Earlier, he laid the foundation-stone for construction of 68 irrigation tanks taken up at a cost of Rs 240 crore in various villages in Tuggali mandal. The proposed tanks would be filled with water from the Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanti (HNSS) project. The water would be used for drinking and irrigation purposes in the mandal.
Naidu also participated in the Jala Harathi programme performed for water security and drought mitigation drought. Later, he inspected the Neeru-Chettu and NREGS works in agricultural fields and interacted with farmers.
What CM promised
- Immediate sanction of 550 houses to the poor under NTR Housing Scheme
- Construction of CC roads and drains in all colonies
- Underground drainage works to be taken up in some colonies
- Construction of a bridge at Uravanka Cheruvu
- Construction of a Shadikhana and a community hall
- Sanction of pensions for all eligible old persons, widows and the disabled
- Separate water scheme to solve drinking water crisis in the village
- Laying of BT roads in villages
