Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dr Harsh Vardhan has said that India is working towards climate justice and sustainable lifestyle.
Addressing State Environment Ministers' Conference organized a day before World Environment Day in New Delhi, Dr Vardhan said, environment is an ethical issue for Indians and it is the responsibility towards the future generations to give them what the ancestors left for us.
He said, India is working towards waste to wealth initiative through rigorous research and development. The Minister said, it is a matter of pride that India is hosting World Environment Day event this year. He said, India played an important role in COP21 Summit and Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the vision for International Solar Alliance. In his address, Head of UN Environment Programme, Erik Solheim congratulated India for taking the lead in saving the planet and it's people from pollution. He said, India which is urbanising at a fast clip requires a better traffic management system and other infrastructure needed for creation of a green city.
He said, UNEP wants to promote India as a global leader for environment safety and UN will help in all it's endeavors across states.
