This World Environment Day, if you want to do your bit then help beat plastic pollution with The Hindu’s Friends Of Chennai.
This week, from Monday to Friday, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., drop off plastic at any of the 15 locations across the city to be recycled or upcycled.
Depending on the type of plastic that is collected, the waste would be used to generate fuel or recycled to make pellets that would be converted into dust bins, mugs and buckets.
Plastic like forks, spoons, PET bottles would be made into lamp shades and tables.
Donated to needy
The products made using the collected plastic would be donated to those in need.
Organisations including Reciprocity, Earth re-cyclers, Environment Foundation of India, Paperman and Pattersons are partnering with The Hindu’s Friends Of Chennai.
Volunteers from Hindustan University too would lend a helping hand.
